Discover what FenuKale™ Nu and a cheese have in common

Blue fenugreek has been cultivated in Switzerland for many centuries. The growers harvest this annual plant before they produce flowers.

The dried leaves and stems are grinded to a pale green coloured powder. This very unique aromatic, spicy product is then added to a traditional cheese called Schabziger, also known as sapsago cheese, giving its distinctive taste and colour. This cheese is produced exclusively in the area of Glarus, located in the east-central region of Switzerland. You can enjoy it as a spread on bread or use it to flavour potatoes and other savoury dishes.

There is even a beautiful scenic hiking trail named after this cheese in that same area, the Schabziger Höhenweg. Along the the 7-kilometer-long hike one can find set up boards along the path allowing to discover interesting insights behind the history of blue fenugreek and the production of this cheese. This hike offers many impressive views around every turn and allows to discover a beautiful alpine flora.

FenuKale™ Nu

FenuKale™ Nu is an extract made from this blue fenugreek, which is especially rich in saponins and flavonoids. Saponins are known to protect the skin from harmful effects caused by air pollution and flavonoids are potent antioxidant, fighting effectively free radicals.

Epigenetics is the study of how your behaviors and environment can cause changes that affect the way your genes work. Unlike genetic changes, epigenetic changes are reversible and do not change your DNA sequence, but they can change how your body reads a DNA sequence.

There is data showing that air pollution, UV rays and ozone cause oxidative stress in skin cells and also trigger inflammation there. Dry, itchy, and irritated skin can be the result, making it look dull and plump. Long-term exposure to these elements lead to epigenetic damages and contribute to collagen loss in the skin.

Benefits of FenuKale™ Nu

FenuKale™ Nu has been specifically developed to fight accelerated skin aging, a potent pollution-detox ingredient. It is the combination of blue fenugreek and kale. Last one is considered as a detox-superfood and is very rich in nutrients.

In our studies we found out that FenuKale™ Nu protects from damages caused by air pollutant to the skin. This is happening through an interplay of three approaches:

  • Protect from of unwanted changes in the epigenome
  • Improve an out of balance skin-barrier function
  • Reduce the build-up of free radicals causing oxidative stress to cells

In a placebo-controlled clinical study we looked at the effect of FenuKale™ Nu on skin parameters. Volunteers living in a highly polluted region received FenuKale™ Nu over a period of eight weeks administered in a supplement. The moisture level in the skin was measured and showed a significant increase that period. Further tests revealed that the trans-epidermal water loss (TEWL) improved considerably. TEWL is an important marker reflecting how well the skin-barrier is functioning. Air pollution can cause a deterioration of this function, resulting in a higher risk for oxidative damages and inflammation in skin. These positive results were underlined by the results of a satisfaction survey, where changes in skin moisture, luminescence, and homogeneity were rated highest in improvement compared to the initial condition.

FenuKale

FenuKale™ Nu and the Schabziger cheese do have something in common as we just discovered. This powder extract can be applied into many different application formats, such as lozenges, powder beverages or tablets. Get in touch with us to receive further suggestions and information.
